Idaho Falls, Idaho – February 25, 2005 – Melaleuca President and CEO Frank VanderSloot recently spoke to business executives, faculty and graduate students at New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. The presentation centered around the values, principles and business philosophies that have anchored the Melaleuca business model for the last 20 years. Dr. Paul Brown, PhD, a professor of accounting and academic director of the TRIUM Global E-MBA program, invited VanderSloot to make the presentation after reading about the company in the Oct. 11 issue of Forbes magazine.

“It was important to bring in a business leader from outside the central core ofNew Yorkbusiness to offer a different perspective,” said Dr. Brown. “Business leaders as well as those in academia worry about the transmission of core values to future generations of organizational management. The principles that Frank VanderSloot described about hard work, taking the high road and simple living hit the nail right on the head.”

Additionally, VanderSloot described his vision and experience with redistributing opportunity to the average family, providing them with a fresh possibility to reach their own goals. He discussed the creation of a business model based on honest, product-centered business development versus the get-rich-quick schemes of multi-level marketing. He also shared insight about how word-of-mouth marketing can be a more effective tool in influencing mass audiences than traditional advertising channels.

“How refreshing to hear a corporate executive speak about the role of value-centered leadership throughout the formation and management of a successful company,” said Dr. Brown. “Melaleuca is truly a model of entrepreneurial excellence.”

The TRIUM program is an alliance between New YorkUniversity, the London School of Economics and Political Science and the HEC School of Management, Paris. Attracting top students and faculty from around the world, the Leonard N. Stern School of Business is continually one of the top-ranked business schools in America.
