Rewarding Loyalty: 204 Employees Receive $2.4 Million in Bonuses
More than 200 smiling employees passed landmark anniversaries this year with Melaleuca: The Wellness Company. They were rewarded with a portion of $2,473,114 million in bonuses for their dedicated service and longevity.
$20 Million in Service Bonuses Since 2007
Melaleuca has paid $20,057,357 to over 1,200 employees since instituting this bonus in 2007. The company created this bonus program so every 30-year employee can have more than $1 million in the bank when they retire from Melaleuca.
This bonus is for all full- and part-time employees, regardless of position or pay level, and an employee’s length of service is the only qualification. Melaleuca pays $5,000 on a five-year anniversary, $10,000 at 10 years, $15,000 at 15 years, $33,000 ($20,000 net) at 20 years, $25,000 at 25 years, and $30,000 at 30 years.
Today, 58 employees received $5,000; 96 employees received $10,000; 13 employees received $15,000; 22 employees received $25,000; and 15 employees received $33,000.
All 10-year employees also receive a Howard Miller mantel clock, while those with 15 years of service receive a beautiful Westminster floor globe that stands over three feet tall.
“We believe that employees who have helped us build this company should share in the wealth,” said Melaleuca CEO Frank VanderSloot. “It’s impressive to watch how many people are going the distance with us.”
Retire as a Millionaire
Frank VanderSloot recently met with each of the bonus recipients. He personally thanked them for their longstanding service to the company and encouraged them to save for retirement with the bonuses they were about to receive.
“It’s our goal that all Melaleuca employees will retire as millionaires,” said VanderSloot. “Even the janitors will retire as millionaires if they simply follow our program.”
Every 30-year employee (even secretaries and custodians) who saves and invests the longevity bonuses and 401K will have more than $1 million in savings when they retire from Melaleuca. An employee would only need to take advantage of the company’s 401(k) matching program, invest the longevity bonuses, and achieve a modest rate of return on that investment.
“To give every long-term Melaleuca employee the opportunity to retire a millionaire is a stated goal,” VanderSloot said.
Melaleuca also pays its employees many other types of incentives based on performance and productivity. In addition to the company’s loyalty and long-term contribution bonus, Melaleuca offers many unique perks and benefits that can be found on the Melaleuca jobs website.
