Melaleuca Donates One Hundred Twenty Thousand Dollars to American Red Cross

To help victims of Hurricane Katrina and Rita get back on their feet, Melaleuca announced today that is donating $120,000 to the American Red Cross. The proceeds will be dedicated to helping individuals with the long-term recovery process, bringing comfort to those devastated by the storms and enhancing lives wherever the needs are greatest.

“Responding to the biggest disaster in our 125-year history, the Red Cross is still serving distressed areas four months after the storm,” said Steve Carr, who serves on the national board of directors for the American Red Cross. “Donations from generous corporations like Melaleuca are critical to this ongoing relief effort, and they demonstrate the enormous power of the human spirit.”

Soon after the storm, Melaleuca mobilized a two-week community-wide collection of food, water, clothing and other emergency supplies that filled 11 semi-truck trailers forGulfCoastvictims. The company partnered with Doug Andrus Trucking and ABF Trucking to transport supplies to relief centers inLouisiana,MississippiandTexas. Local News Channel 8 and radio station KLCE 97 provided promotional support of the collection.

“In times of crisis, it has been our company’s tradition to answer the call of the distressed and assist those organizations that help victims overcome their challenges,” said Melaleuca President and CEO Frank VanderSloot. “Our workforce will continue to keep the hurricane survivors in our prayers, and our company will remain a strong supporter of the long-term recovery campaign.”
