Melaleuca Donates $250,000 for Typhoon Relief in the Philippines

Melaleuca Philippines typhoon aftermath

Thousands of displaced families in the Philippines have benefited from a large donation provided by Melaleuca of the Philippines. A rare category 5 super typhoon named Rai (locally named Odette) hit the Pacific country on December 17, 2021. With ferocious wind gusts topping at speeds of 142 miles per hour (260 kph), Typhoon Rai tore its way across more than 8,000 villages, affecting millions of people and destroying tens of thousands of homes.

Following the disaster, Melaleuca of the Philippines, which launched last year in the capital city of Manila, coordinated emergency relief efforts with several nonprofits. Since then, Melaleuca of the Philippines has donated $250,000 of Melaleuca products to four emergency relief charities to help victims.

“Our hearts go out to those affected by Super Typhoon Rai,” said Melaleuca International President Jerry Felton. “Yet we are in awe of the resilience and spirit of the people of the Philippines. We are truly honored to be able to help in the face of this disaster.”

Melaleuca’s donations have been distributed through the Philippine Red Cross, ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya Foundation, Tanging Yaman Foundation, and the Virlanie Foundation.

Melaleuca’s health and wellness products have ensured families get essential nutrition, personal care and laundry products during such a devastating time.

Enhancing Lives Around the World

Worldwide, Melaleuca is known for its science-based health supplements, toxic-free cleaning formulas, and gentle personal care and cosmetic products. Its mission, “To Enhance the Lives of Those We Touch by Helping People Reach Their Goals,” incorporates its business practices to create products that fortify health and change lives, but the mission is also seen in Melaleuca’s readiness to help those in need.

Melaleuca’s mission to help others is not limited by boundaries. It provides relief and rescue to communities all over the world whenever and wherever there is a need.

A few examples of recent contributions include donating money and supplies to Australian charities after their horrific bushfires; making a $30,000 donation for humanitarian aid in Germany; distributing $30,000 in products to flood victims in Canada; donating health products to the Mexican Red Cross for earthquake relief; sending relief supplies to support families staying in American Red Cross shelters after hurricanes and tornados; and funding an Emergency Response Vehicle for the American Red Cross that travels to the frontline of natural disasters.

The Melaleuca Foundation’s signature cause is serving as the sole financial supporter of a special orphanage in Quito, Ecuador. It has funded this orphanage for more than a decade and helped hundreds of children to be adopted and/or placed into loving, permanent families.

Additionally, Melaleuca sponsors 25 schools in China, where it regularly donates books, electronic equipment, desks, supplies, educational resources and where many Melaleuca team members and Marketing Executives volunteer their time to interact with the students and maintain school buildings and classrooms.

In Malaysia, the company has donated clothes, books, toys and household items to orphanages. In Korea, it has donated money to UNICEF to help children and mothers. And in rural Taiwan, Melaleuca has provided educational resources to low-income students.
