Melaleuca Celebrates Employees and Their Families with Carnival-Style Family Picnic

On July 13, over 4,000 Melaleuca Team Members and their family members gathered together at the highly anticipated annual Melaleuca Family Picnic, creating an unforgettable day of fun and celebration. Held outside of Melaleuca Global Headquarters, this picnic looks far more like a county fair than a quaint picnic. It’s a great opportunity for Team Members to visit with coworkers, and it serves as a big thank-you to our amazing Team Members.

An open farm field within Melaleuca’s 195-acre campus was transformed into a place of excitement, offering a variety of free activities to entertain both children and adults. Helicopter rides over the area were available, providing Team Members with a chance to view the familiar landscape from a whole new perspective. Horse rides, mechanical bull rides, rock walls, bounce houses and inflatable obstacle courses were also enjoyed by Team Members and their families.

Melaleuca CEO Jerry Felton expressed his gratitude and emphasized the importance of the picnic, saying, “We’re a family at Melaleuca. We celebrate and have fun. And we want to express appreciation for our exceptional Team Members and their families.”

One of the event’s highlights was the prize drawing, featuring more than 100 items, like vacation packages, electronics, home furnishings, kitchen appliances and sports equipment. Each Team Member had their name put into the drawing one time for each year they have worked at Melaleuca.

The picnic featured an enormous barbecue with more than a dozen smoked pigs, beef sandwiches, hot dogs, and salads. Consistent with Melaleuca tradition, the pig carving stations were led by Melaleuca executives.

And, as always, there was all the cotton candy, snow cones, drinks, and popcorn anyone could want.

Kody Christensen, a Machine Operator, loves coming to the event each year. “This event is a chance for the Melaleuca team to come together as a family and celebrate our hard work,” he said. “Melaleuca’s team mentality makes this company one of the best in America to work for.”

Creating a Close-Knit Company Culture

Melaleuca’s dedication to creating a close-knit work culture has been a cornerstone of the company’s success. And Melaleuca's commitment to creating a fulfilling work-life balance extends beyond the picnic. The company organizes multiple activities to cultivate engaging experiences for its Team Members.

These include an evening of Pioneer League baseball at Melaleuca Field, a golf scramble called the MelaMasters, a free day at the Idaho Falls Zoo, a softball tournament, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a spectacular Halloween party for Team Members’ children and grandchildren, and a large Christmas party with gifts and major entertainment.

Rewarding Loyalty

Each November, Team Members receive their loyalty and long-term contribution bonuses for reaching landmark anniversaries. Every five years with the company, a Team Member earns a bonus, regardless of position or pay level. After five years of employment, Melaleuca pays $5,000. Ten years earns $10,000, 15 years earns $15,000, and so on until 35 years of employment, which earns a Team Member $35,000.

These bonuses reflect Melaleuca's commitment to recognizing and rewarding the dedication of its Team Members throughout their careers. Melaleuca’s loyalty rewards program has paid over $36 million to more than 1,000 Team Members.

One of America’s Best Employers

Over the last four years, Forbes magazine has recognized Melaleuca as one of America's Best Employers, highlighting the company’s exceptional work culture and generous benefits package offered to Team Members. The company's commitment to providing health, dental and vision insurance, a robust 401(k) program, paid vacation time and access to on-site amenities such as the Leaf & Drop café and a fitness center.

Forbes has also included Melaleuca on its list of America’s Best Employers for Women.

Melaleuca has created a workplace in which Team Members want to stick around and advance. In 2022, Melaleuca had over 300 internal promotions.

“We’ve had cooks become analysts, forklift drivers develop into scientists and team members from the call centers rise to become vice presidents,” said Melaleuca President Cole Clinger. “Their stories are not the exception. Melaleuca actively trains and develops Team Members and then promotes them to different positions based on their talent and potential.”
