Melaleuca, a manufacturer and distributor of more than 350 health and wellness products to consumers around the world, has announced the formation of manufacturing operations in Shanghai,China. The manufacturing plant will produce a broad range of natural, environmentally sensitive household cleaning products for Asian markets where Melaleuca conducts business. Plans for the future call for the facility to eventually manufacture the full line of personal care, cosmetics, health and nutrition products for the Asian region. Melaleuca does not plan to use its China plant to manufacture products to be sold in the U.S. or Canada.
The company’s Idaho Falls and Rexburg,Idaho and its Knoxville,TN plants will continue to produce products to be sold in the U.S., Canada and most other regions of the world except for Asia. Melaleuca is also currently constructing a new distribution facility in Idaho Falls.
“Melaleuca’s international revenues have exceeded our goals because our wellness message clearly resonates with people all over the word,” said Melaleuca President and CEO Frank VanderSloot. “We have learned that people in Asia share many of the same health concerns that we experience domestically, and they are receptive to finding effective wellness products that cause them to lead a healthier, more active lifestyle. It proves our products are as attractive overseas as they are in North America.”
“For these reasons, creating an efficient manufacturing and distribution process for our products is critical in light of Melaleuca’s continued worldwide expansion,” said VanderSloot. “We want to produce and distribute our products as efficiently as possible – no matter where our customers live in the world.
Additionally, Melaleuca has established store locations in China in the cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Shanghai, and it will begin retail sales of many of its products during the next few months. The company has already hired management and retail staff to support these operations.
