Friends, Food and Fun at Melaleuca Family Picnic

Women and two children at Melaleuca Family Picnic

Nearly 4,000 Melaleuca employees and their families gathered outside Melaleuca Global Headquarters for an evening of fun on July 11. As one of the most anticipated corporate events of the year, the Melaleuca Family Picnic is a celebration of the company’s success and a thank you to its outstanding Team Members.

This year’s picnic included an all-you-can-eat dinner, cotton candy, snow cones, helicopter rides, bouncy houses, rock-climbing walls, horseback rides, mechanical bulls, and other attractions—all of which were free. Though it is a picnic, Team Members say the event resembles the Eastern Idaho State Fair.

In an interview with a local TV news reporter, Melaleuca CEO Frank VanderSloot said holding this event is a chance for Melaleuca to give back to all of its Team Members. “We do this because we’re a family, because we like to have fun, and because we want to say thank
you to the people who provided everything that we have here.”

Reporters from the ABC and CBS TV news affiliates and East Idaho News shared the fun that kids of all ages were having with carnival games, bounce-house obstacle courses and 40-foot slides.

One such child was four-year-old Calvin, who raced around the attractions, laughing and playing with other kids and employees. He said his favorite experience was the “big kid” obstacle course.

Calvin’s mother, Lindsay Moncur, a purchasing specialist, said, “It’s a great opportunity to see the people you work with in a different environment and have fun with family. This was my third picnic, and I felt a sense of unity with my work friends. Overall, this is such a generous event from Melaleuca, and I’m grateful the company holds these types of events to reward its employees!”

Not only did Lindsay have a great time, but she also walked away with a high-flying prize. She won a new drone, which was one of 90 prizes in the raffle. Other Team Members received Apple AirPods, PS4 systems, night-vision binoculars, big-screen smart TVs, and gas cards.

Three lucky Team Members won grand prizes: Customer Care wellness representative Cathy Stumph won a $2,000 gift certificate to a local home furnishing store, product delivery specialist Lorraine Curtis received a trip for four to Disneyland, and senior business review specialist Tracy May will set sail on an Alaskan cruise.

As the sun set over Melaleuca Global Headquarters, many parents carried their exhausted little ones to their vehicles. The children had given it their all! Thanks to the beautiful weather, exhilarating activities, great prizes, savory food and more, Melaleuca’s Team Members had an enjoyable summer evening to remember.
